How we teach — four modules

Each module pairs a school subject with AI, designed to close — not widen — the gap between our students and their wealthier peers.

  1. Mathematics & AI

    We use AI to turn abstract maths into something children can see and interrogate. Students build and inspect a simple model that fits a line to data, making slope, gradient, and optimisation tangible rather than theoretical. They use an AI tutor to get step-by-step, level-matched explanations on demand — the one-to-one help that usually costs money — and we teach them to check the AI’s working, so they learn the maths by catching its mistakes.

    Why it closes the gap — It puts a private maths tutor in the pocket of a child who could never afford one.

  2. English & AI

    Students use AI as a writing partner: drafting, asking for feedback, and revising. Crucially, we teach them to critique what the AI produces — spotting weak arguments, factual errors, and bias — which builds the close-reading and critical-thinking skills wealthier peers absorb from tutors and discussion-rich homes. For second-language learners, an AI partner offers unlimited, judgement-free practice.

    Why it closes the gap — Patient feedback and language exposure on demand, for children who have neither at home.

  3. Economics & AI

    Students use AI to make sense of their own city’s economy. They analyse real Hong Kong data — housing costs, wages, inequality — with AI helping them query and visualise it, turning abstract ideas like supply and demand, opportunity cost, and the wealth gap into questions about their own neighbourhoods. They run AI-assisted simulations to see how prices and incentives move.

    Why it closes the gap — Economic literacy is itself a form of capital, and we hand it to children who would otherwise inherit it from no one.

  4. Science & AI

    Students use AI-powered simulations to run experiments their schools can’t afford the equipment for — modelling projectile motion, circuits, and reactions — and use image-recognition tools to understand how machines “perceive” the world. They also learn where AI models break down, where simulation diverges from reality, which is real scientific thinking.

    Why it closes the gap — It turns a borrowed smartphone into a laboratory, democratising the expensive lab access that separates well-resourced schools from under-resourced ones.

We teach across 7 schools, including Ho Man Tin Ling To Catholic School and Kennedy Town School, and with community partners St. Barnabas' Home & Society and "10% Organisation".

A moment from the work

We arrived at Ling To expecting to have to convince a room of children that AI and current affairs had anything to do with their lives. We were wrong. They weren't uninterested — they had simply never been handed the spark. Within an hour they were arguing about whether an algorithm could be fair. The gap was never curiosity. It was access.
